My Opinion
In Mary Warnock’s article ”The Pope should let Eluana die in peace.” She writes about the similarities and differences of this case and a case that was much alike to this from the past. And her beliefs on this recent issue.
I agree with her in the sense that if the relatives and friends of the victim are in grief, and have been in grief for a long period of time, perhaps the victim should be put to rest. Is that not what the victim may have wanted if they saw their close ones in such state? Or if there was truly, and absolutely no chance or hope for the victim to recover or even partially recover it may be the morally right way to end their life.
However, I’m not quite sure if I agree with her when she says that the law is not thought to be a law unless it is accepted by religion, because this does depend. Yet in this case, I would agree with her because Eluana Englaro, who had been in a coma for 17 years had been allowed to die in a clinic, yet the pope interfered and said, that letting her die was the “false solution”.

ROMEO AND JULIET 1996
Scene 1 of Romeo and Juliet- Homework
I liked the way the film maker decided to use many different ways of filming the movie, it was entertainging, I think the most interesting bit was when the characters were being introduced, the scenes kept changing from Capulet to, with there title on the side, I also thought the fight between the Capulets and the Montague was filmed well, it kept zooming it and out, zooming in, when there was a dialogue or important information. I think because of the up close shots and the zoomed out shots, the film maker kept the scene interesting for the viewer, and we also got a clearer view and a better idea of what was happening around the character, but because of the changes in the angle and distance of the shots, the fight seemed more intense showing the facial expressions of each character.
BOOK REVIEW. (Size 12 Is Not Fat by Meg Cabot)
I think I have to say that one of my favourite books is the first of Meg Cabot’s Heather Wells series, “Size 12 Is Not Fat”. Heather Wells, the main character is an ex-teen pop sensation, she has been cheated by her ex-boyfriend Jordan Cartwright and even her own mother. The days of her singing career have long gone, but she is very happy, her new job as an assistant dorm director of one of New York’s top colleges is going pretty well. She lives with her ex-boyfriends brother Cooper Cartwright a private detective (who she secretly has a crush on).
Until then her life was almost perfect, in fact very close, It all changed when one day she was called in for work, and finds out that a body of a female student was discovered at the bottom of an elevator shaft. Everybody, even the police think the tragic death was caused by a case of elevator surfing, but Heather believes it was a murder, Sadly no one takes her seriously or believes her. But Heather was once a teenage girl and she knows girls don’t elevator surf, especially a preppy girl, it’s a boys thing. She is determined to find out who the killer is and prove to everyone that she is not just “the girl who sang Sugar Rush”. Will she find the murderer? Will anything happen between Cooper and Heather? Read the book and find out, it is definitely worth it!
One of the main reasons why I enjoyed this book so much is its detail, as you start reading you almost immediately feel as if you are there, standing and watching what is going on in the book, I guess this is partly because the plot is very easy to follow, and full of cliff hangers which sucks you in even more. But the thing that really kept me reading was Heather’s personality, she is the kind of girl who thinks positively no matter what, she is kind by nature and is nice to anyone and everyone, yet many people abuse her personality. After a while you start to feel sorry for her, and you want her to do well and get a promotion among with many other things. I recommend this book for anybody but specially girls, it’s a feel good book, and makes you appreciate what you have. If you like a mystery or a love story, this is perfect! But even if you don’t enjoy these genres like me, I’m sure you’ll enjoy this book, perhaps even love it, and consider it to be one of your favourite books like me.

PRACTISE PERSUASION LETTER.
Dear Mum,
Hello, How are you?
I am writing this letter to you, because I know that you are an understanding and considerate person, and I am aware of the fact that you said I had to study and not go out on the weekends and I do understand your reasons, but is it possible just this once or twice that I go out, It will be for the better good of both of us, I promise.
I can assure you that by letting me go out once in a while it will be better for me because I would concentrate better knowing that if I study a lot that day and keep on track, I would be allowed to go out in the near future, which would be motivation for me and would give something to look forward to.
However I am not suggesting I go out often, say every Saturday because I know that, that is not enough. But perhaps it will be for the better interest of both of us in other ways than motivation for me, it will also allow you time to go out with your friends and not worry about whether or not I am studying.
I hope you take this into consideration
Yours sincerely.

ENGLISH ESSAY SKELLIG
Compare the themes of “Skellig” to one more William Blake poems that you think also focuses on the same or similar ideas?
The themes David Almond used in his book “Skellig” are very similar to those used in the poems “Tyger” and “The Schoolboy” which are written by the poet William Blake. The poem “Tyger” and the book “Skellig” both have the themes; evolution and nature, “The Schoolboy” has the same theme “education” with “Skellig”.
I think the book “Skellig” and the poem “Tyger” both have the theme evolution, in stanza four of “Tyger” it says “What the hammer? What the chain? In the furnace of thy brain? What the anvil? What dead grasp Dare its deadly terrors clasp?” It means what the “Tyger” is taking shape in a furnace, molded into shape just like a blacksmith making his piece of work. And in stanza three, verse three “And then thy heart began to beat,” I anticipate it as the “Tyger’s” heart starts beating, the “Tyger” is born, it is alive. In “Skellig” page 58 line 25 “ The presence of air cavities is known as pneumatisation” page 59 line 1 “This too is the result of evolution”, David Almond writes the facts of evolution, birds have bones with air cavities which make the bone lighter, stronger and most importantly ideal for flight. William Blake however writes about the complete opposite of evolution, how god could create such a strong and fierce creature like the “Tyger”, yet create such a tame and gentle creature like the “lamb”. The difference is that William Blake writes about the creation of “Tyger”, as god being the one who created the creature, unlike the bird’s bone, which in “Skellig” is light and strong due to the process of evolution.
The second theme that is used is nature. In the book “Skellig”, I think nature is a very important theme; it comes up as the contrast between the supernatural being which is “Skellig”, for example in the book the owl represnts nature, beauty and savage, Mina who is scientific and accepts the idea of evolution yet, still accepts the supernatural being, “Skellig” who represents the death and rebirth. And in the poem, stanza six, verse three (also in the first stanza) it says “In the forests of the night” Which, I guess, means exactly what it says, the forests of the night, when I hear that an image of a dark, mysterious place immediately comes to mind.
The poem “The Schoolboy” is about education, which you can probably guess because of the title, but the book “Skellig” also uses the theme education, I think education is the second most important theme in the book because, Mina who is one of the main characters is Michal’s neighbors and she is home schooled, her family believes that, “The mind needs to be opened out into the world, not shuttered down inside a gloomy classroom”. Her parents believe that school is not the best place for children to learn, They argue that “The chicks in the nest won’t need a classroom to make them fly” In other words do all chicks go to school to learn how to fly and sing? No they don’t they learn from their parents I think it means that children don’t have to go to school to learn, they can easily learn outside of school where they are free to learn what they wish to, and they are not confined into a classroom, where they have to sit the majority of the school day.
In the poem “Schoolboy” the poet William Blake says that “How can a bird that is born for joy Sit in a cage and sing” I think William Blake is suggesting that a bird is meant to be free and roam the skies instead of being trapped in a cage, how can they enjoy life if they are unwillingly stuck in a cage? I think that William Blake believes that children should not go to school and learn by being home schooled. But on the other hand in the book there are two points of view, What Mina’s family believe; and what Micahel’s family believe, but the poem simply has one point of view, school is not the best place for children to learn, it is against the nature of humans to go to school.
I conclude that although William Blake’s “Skellig” and David Almond’s “Tyger” and The “Schoolboy” share the same themes the writers point of views are different in many ways and there style of writing are different, of course the time period in which the book and the poems are written are different by a few centuries so, there is bound to be some difference in the style of writing and also “Skellig” is a book and “The Schoolboy” and the “Tyger” are poems I think that is one of the key reasons why the writers style of writing is different along with the reason of time period. When you read William Blake’s writing you have to use a bit of imagination although he write in a lot of detail, he still gives you enough information for you to understand what it is that he is writing. However, David Almond writes in a colloquial and plain manner, the writing is easy to read and easy to understand.
